Stylish bag for a day in town

If you’re like me, you take your project with you wherever you go! That means that the bag quite easily get full. That is why a backpack is a natural choice for me. It is easy to bring and my sensitive shoulders (all that crocheting!) gets the weight evenly. The Spläsh backpack I reviewed during the summer has now been in great use all through the autumn and it has kept my things dry even though I’ve been biking long rides through pouring rain on multiple occasions. It is really stylish for the everyday life. But sometimes you want dress up a bit and drop the sporty look - let’s introduce Clässy! I think this bag is perfect for those times you want to feel elegant. This is a backpack that I’d easily bring to even a fancier restaurant.

Story

Gaston Luga is a company with founded in Stockholm, Sweden. With roots from my home country and Scandinavian minimalistic elegant design I think they’re a perfect match to my style of design.

Let’s begin with facts about the backpack I’ve tried. It is the 11-13” Clässy and described on their website: “Clässy’s durable top clasp keeps your bag firmly closed, with an inner padded laptop compartment and outer hidden pocket to keep your valuables secure. Adjustable PU leather straps let you customize for a comfortable fit..”

Lightweight

The bag in itself only weighs 800 grams making it a light bag to carry around. That is something that I always check before getting a bag. I’ve so many times in the past got disappointed after ordering a bag and realising it is so heavy in itself that you can hardly carry anything it in. Clässy did not disappoint on this with its light weight. One thing I really liked about the Spläsh was that it is waterproof. Clässy has a top flap and straps made from PU-leather and the rest in a durable fabric. I couldn’t find the exact details about the fabric, but I would expect it to hold out a bit of water, like from a light rain. The inside has an extra layer of fabric making it a bit thicker. I wouldn’t use it for pouring rain though. But since I am anyhow planning to use it in town I’ll most likely bring an umbrella keeping my belongings dry!

Inside

The inside has a pocket for a 11-13” laptop or similar. It also works great as a divider inside the bag. I like to keep my notepads and stuff on one side and crochet project in the other side, which it works great for. The inner volume of this bag is actually 13L, which is 1L larger than the Spläsh. In my review of the Spläsh I commented on that it was a smaller bag, but after using it all through the autumn I’ve gotten surprised on multiple occasions on how mush I can fit in it. So with this Clässy having an even larger volume I am sure I’ll be able to squeeze in a lot! The fabric also makes it more flexible adding even more possibility on what to store in it.

As with the Spläsh, the Clässy also holds my 15” laptop in the backpack even though it is designed for 11-13”. I did upgrade to a 16” laptop and even that I can get in to the bag. It doesn’t fit in the pocket designed for a laptop, but in the larger compartment it works and the bag closes without problem. This bag I wouldn’t expect to use to carry around my laptop in, but it is great that it is an option! After using my Spläsh for carrying around my laptop a lot even though it is not designed for a laptop that large I know it will work fine even on this. But if it would be you main bag for carrying a laptop I’d probably suggest on of the other larger bags that Gaston Luga have.

About storage and pockets

This is what Gaston Luga says fits in the bag. I agree!

The bag has a hidden pocket without closing on the backside of it. I am not sure what I’d store in it, but it is deep and would definitely hold a phone or similar. It also has a ring on the outside where you could attach your keys. Other than that the outside is kept as simple as possible, which I like.

Inside it has the divider/pocket for laptop and on that 2 compartments that I’d say is for a passport. The rest is open with the ability to fot a lot of stuff. I am missing an inside pocket with a zipper closing for those smaller items you’d like to store, like a cardholder or airpods. Other than that it contains everything you’d wish from inside a backpack.

Colors

The backpack is available in 3 beautiful colors. Black, black with brown straps and flap and navy with brown straps and flap. All three colors has the details in gold. The colors are soft and neutral and one of the hardest choice was in which color to get it. I decided to go for it in all black since that then matches my coat and shoes (both of which are all black with gold details), but any of the others would look great with that as well.

Summarising

All in all it is a great backpack for a day on town. The backpack it self is light and you’d be able to fit many of smaller shopping items and clothes as well as bring a crochet project with you. I can’t wait to start to use it to discover more of its possibilities!
